Man dies following stabbing in Newcastle-under-Lyme as murder investigation launched
A man in his 20s has died after suffering injuries consistent with a stab wound following a collision in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Staffordshire Police has launched a murder investigation after officers were called to Orme Road shortly after 5pm today (Friday 4 September).
The incident involved a red Ford Fiesta and a grey Audi. The driver of the Fiesta, a man in his 20s, was found with injuries which police said were “consistent with a stab wound”.
He was taken to hospital but sadly died from his injuries.
Police said the man’s next of kin have been informed and specially-trained officers are supporting his family.
Detective Inspector Stephen Ward said: “We are working hard to understand more about what happened leading up to the driver of the vehicle losing his life.
“The investigation is still at a very early stage and we are in the process of carrying out forensic, CCTV and house-to-house enquiries to establish the circumstances.”
Police said they believe the incident was isolated, but patrols will be increased in the area to reassure residents.
DI Ward added: “We are asking for anyone with any information, or anyone who saw what happened, to get in touch.
“We are particularly interested in dashcam or CCTV footage in the area of Orme Road, Rotterdam and Mill Bank Place.”
