Privacy Policy - Six Towns Daily
Privacy Policy
How we handle your data. Short version: we collect almost nothing and share even less.
Effective date: 1 June 2026
Overview
Six Towns Daily is committed to protecting your privacy. We collect as little data as possible and we never sell, share or trade your personal information with anyone. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
What we collect
When you visit Six Towns Daily, our web server automatically logs basic access information. This includes your IP address, browser type, the page you visited, and the time of your visit. This data is stored in standard server logs and is used solely for security monitoring and understanding general traffic patterns.
If you submit a story, comment, or contact us, we collect the information you provide, such as your name and email address. We only use this to respond to you or to publish content you've submitted with your consent.
If you support us through Buy Me a Coffee, that transaction is handled entirely by their platform. We receive your name (or display name) and the amount you contributed. We do not receive or store your payment details.
What we don't collect
We do not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics. We do not use any third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics. We do not run any advertising scripts, pixels, or retargeting code. We do not use fingerprinting or any other technology designed to track you across websites.
Put simply, we don't track you. At all.
How we use your data
Server logs are used to monitor traffic levels, detect abuse, and keep the site running smoothly. We do not use them to identify individual users or build profiles.
If you submit content or contact us, we use your details to respond, to follow up on stories, or to credit you as a contributor if you've given permission.
We do not share your data with any third party unless we are legally required to do so.
Third-party services
The site is hosted on standard web hosting infrastructure. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may log your IP address under Google's own privacy policy. Aside from this and the Buy Me a Coffee integration (used only when you choose to donate), we do not embed or rely on any third-party services.
We do not embed social media trackers. The social links on our site are plain links, not tracking widgets.
Data retention
Server logs are retained for a reasonable period for security purposes and then deleted. Submitted content (stories, tips, comments) is retained as long as it remains published or relevant. If you'd like us to remove something you've submitted, get in touch and we'll sort it out.
Your rights
You have the right to ask us what data we hold about you, to request its deletion, or to correct anything that's inaccurate. We're a small, approachable team, so just reach out via our Facebook page or email and we'll deal with it promptly.
Children's privacy
Six Towns Daily is a general news publication and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update this page and note the new effective date at the top. We won't reduce your privacy protections without making it clear.
