Huge Newcastle-under-Lyme power cut leaves thousands without electricity this morning
Thousands of properties across Newcastle-under-Lyme were hit by a major power cut early this morning, with electricity now fully restored.

The outage affected more than 2,800 properties at its peak, according to the latest power cut information, with engineers called out to deal with a fault affecting underground electricity cables.
At 5.47am, updates showed that 535 properties remained off supply, while 2,310 properties had already been restored.
Engineers were also confirmed to be on their way to deal with the problem.
Just minutes later, at 5.49am, the number of properties without power had fallen to 312, with 2,533 properties restored.
The reported cause of the outage was a fault on underground power cables in the area.

All properties restored.
The disruption came during the early morning, potentially affecting residents getting ready for work and school, as well as businesses opening for the day.
The latest information confirms that the incident has now been resolved, although residents who are still experiencing problems should report the issue to their electricity network operator.
Power has now been restored across all of the affected properties.
