Calls for Mark Robins to go after Stoke City collapse at Wolves

Stoke made the dream start when Sam Gallagher produced a stunning strike from around 25 yards to put the visitors ahead after just two minutes. The Potters even had opportunities to extend their lead, with Sorba Thomas going close.

But the game quickly unravelled.

Rodrigo Gomes scored twice in the space of three minutes to turn the match around before half-time, before Raúl Jiménez converted a 55th-minute penalty to make it 3-1. Jordan James then completed the scoring late on as Wolves ran out comfortable 4-1 winners.

The defeat leaves Stoke with three defeats from their opening three Championship matches, having already lost to Swansea City and Southampton. The Potters have also conceded nine goals in those three league games, leaving supporters increasingly concerned about where the season is heading.

For many fans, the frustration is no longer simply about losing matches, it is about the manner of the defeats and the feeling that the same problems are continuing.

Today's collapse will inevitably increase the pressure on Robins, with some Stoke supporters now openly calling for the club to make a change in the dugout.

Robins arrived at Stoke with a strong reputation following his successful spell at Coventry City, but the patience of sections of the Stoke support appears to be wearing increasingly thin.

There were positives at Molineux. Gallagher's early goal was outstanding and Stoke created chances to make it 2-0. But once Wolves equalised, Stoke struggled to regain control and ultimately conceded four times.

The question now is whether Stoke's hierarchy believes Robins can turn things around, or whether today's heavy defeat has finally pushed some supporters to the point of saying enough is enough.

With the season only three league games old, there is still plenty of football to play. But after three consecutive Championship defeats, the pressure on Mark Robins is undoubtedly growing.
