Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council highlights latest improvements across Kidsgrove
Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is continuing to push ahead with improvements in Kidsgrove, with work taking place across the town as part of the wider Kidsgrove Town Deal.
Residents and visitors are beginning to see changes taking shape around the town centre, with public-realm improvements designed to make parts of Kidsgrove cleaner, more attractive and easier to use.
The latest work includes improvements around the King Street precinct, including new planting beds in front of shops and widened steps leading towards Heathcote Street.
The changes are intended to create a more welcoming entrance to the area, while also providing a new location for Kidsgrove's Christmas tree. Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council says the work is progressing as part of the wider regeneration programme.
More work planned
The improvements form part of the Kidsgrove Town Deal, a multi-million-pound programme aimed at regenerating the town and supporting its future economic, social and environmental development.
The wider programme includes improvements around Market Street, Station Road, Meadows Road and the town centre, alongside projects involving the canal, railway station and new enterprise facilities.
The Borough Council is responsible for progressing the wider Town Deal programme, working alongside other organisations and Staffordshire County Council where projects involve the highway network.
For residents, the most visible changes will be the improvements to public spaces, pedestrian areas and the appearance of the town centre.
While there is still plenty of work to complete, the latest progress marks another step in the Borough Council's plans to transform parts of Kidsgrove and encourage more people to spend time in the town centre.
