Poundbakery to Close Newcastle-under-Lyme Shop After Years on Castle Walk
Newcastle-under-Lyme’s Poundbakery is set to close its doors this Thursday, August 27, leaving customers with just days to visit the familiar Castle Walk store before it shuts for good.
A familiar name on Newcastle-under-Lyme’s high street is set to disappear, with the local Poundbakery announcing that its Castle Walk shop will close its doors later this week.
A notice displayed in the window of the store at 5 Castle Walk confirms that the shop will close at the end of Thursday, August 27. Customers are being directed to the nearest remaining Poundbakery in Hanley, at 12 Parliament Row.
The closure will come as a disappointment to shoppers who have relied on the bakery for its low-cost selection of pies, pasties, sausage rolls, sandwiches, cakes and other bakery favourites. The Newcastle-under-Lyme branch has been listed as offering a wide range of breakfast and lunch options, including meal deals and hot food.
The announcement adds to the changes being seen across Newcastle-under-Lyme town centre, with another familiar shopfront soon to stand empty. While the notice does not give a specific reason for the closure, customers have already been reacting to the news online, with discussion surrounding the future of the premises and what could eventually replace the bakery.
For regular customers, however, there is still one last chance to grab a bargain before the Newcastle Poundbakery serves its final customers on Thursday.
