Newcastle-under-Lyme Sinkhole Closure Hits Local Pub Trade

Repairs to a sinkhole in Newcastle-under-Lyme are continuing, with the ongoing road closure causing disruption for nearby businesses.

The sinkhole has required more extensive work than originally expected, with investigations uncovering a significant void beneath the road. Repair work has also involved Severn Trent Water after an earlier attempt resulted in concrete entering the sewer network.

The closure is having a direct impact on the nearby Boat and Horses pub, with access for deliveries affected. Large delivery vehicles have been unable to reach the pub as they normally would, creating difficulties for the business in receiving supplies.

The disruption comes as the pub continues to operate while repair work takes place, but the restrictions around the road are making day-to-day trading more difficult.
