A53 reopens in Endon after emergency repairs
The A53 in Endon has reopened after emergency repair works caused a temporary road closure earlier today. Traffic is now moving again, although some congestion may remain as conditions return to normal.
The A53 in Endon has reopened following emergency repair works that caused a temporary closure earlier today.
The section of Leek Road between The Close and the junction with Hillside Avenue was closed from around 10am while work was carried out by Severn Trent Water to rebuild a sluice valve.
The closure caused significant disruption, with drivers diverting through nearby residential streets including Hillside Avenue, Houston Avenue and Hillswood Drive. Traffic was reported to have become particularly heavy as motorists attempted to avoid the closure.
However, the repairs were completed sooner than expected and traffic is now moving again in both directions along the A53.
Motorists travelling through Endon should still take care, as traffic may take some time to fully settle following the earlier disruption.
The A53 is an important route through North Staffordshire, linking the Stoke-on-Trent area with Leek and the surrounding communities.
