Two Stoke-on-Trent men have been sentenced after police uncovered drugs and weapons following a series of criminal damage incidents in Blurton.
Two Stoke-on-Trent men have been sentenced after police discovered drugs and weapons in a car following a series of incidents in Blurton. Layton Bowman, 20, and Liam Hales, 19, both from Blurton, appeared before Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court after admitting offences linked to criminal damage, drugs and weapons. Bowman was jailed for two years and six months, while Hales received a six-month deferred sentence.
The case dates back to the early hours of December 15 last year, when the pair smashed the rear and front driver's-side windows and the windscreen of a Honda Civic parked on a driveway in Blurton. Staffordshire Police said the men also damaged windows at a nearby property, using a pellet gun during the incident. The investigation later uncovered further evidence linking the pair to offences involving a firearm, bladed article and cannabis.
Bowman admitted possession of a firearm, possession of a bladed article, two counts of criminal damage to property and possession with intent to supply cannabis. Hales admitted the same offences and was given a deferred sentence, meaning he could be brought back before the court if he reoffends or breaches his bail conditions. PC Jake Barnes, from Staffordshire Police's city proactive team, said the pair had been "brazen" in their offending and warned that officers would continue targeting those responsible for crime across Stoke-on-Trent.
