Stoke multicultural festival to celebrate food, music and diversity this weekend
Stoke-on-Trent is set to celebrate its diverse communities this weekend as Better Together hosts its second Multi Culture Summer Fest, featuring food, music, children's activities and local creative stalls.
A multicultural festival is set to bring people from across Stoke-on-Trent together this weekend for an afternoon celebrating the city’s diverse communities.
Better Together Community Support group is inviting residents to its second Multi Culture Summer Fest, taking place at its Community HQ in Trent Vale on Saturday, August 22, from 12pm until 3pm.
Visitors will be able to enjoy food from around the world, including dishes from Sri Lanka, Poland and Germany, alongside music, children's activities and stalls showcasing work from local creatives.
Better Together said the festival would provide a “safe and welcoming space” where people can meet new people while celebrating the different cultures that make up the local community.
CEO Dawn O’Keefe said last year's first multicultural festival had been such a success that people had been asking for its return.
She said the event's aim of bringing people together and helping to build a “stronger and healthier community” fits closely with Better Together's work throughout the year.
The organisation's popular Community Fridge will also remain open on the morning of the festival, from 9.30am until 12pm. People can access free fresh food by bringing along a bag.
The Multi Culture Summer Fest will be held at Better Together Community HQ, 4 Woodberry Close, Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 5LU.
Organisers are encouraging local residents to come along, enjoy the food and entertainment, and celebrate the diversity of the Stoke-on-Trent community.
