Mystery global business chooses Newcastle-under-Lyme for major new manufacturing facility
A mystery global automotive business is set to become the first tenant at Newcastle-under-Lyme's Chatterley Park, where a huge new manufacturing facility is due to be built. The company has not yet been named, but the development could eventually help create up to 1,700 jobs across the wider site.
A major global business has chosen Newcastle-under-Lyme as the location for a new advanced manufacturing facility, but residents will have to wait a little longer to discover exactly who the company is. The unnamed automotive parts designer will become the first tenant at Chatterley Park, on the former Chatterley Valley West site, with construction of the 108,600 sq ft facility expected to begin shortly. The building is due to be completed during the second half of 2027.
The announcement represents a significant step forward for a site that has been transformed from former colliery land into a major employment development. Chatterley Park is being supported by £3.6 million from the Kidsgrove Town Deal, secured through Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, while Staffordshire County Council has also invested £3.5 million. When fully developed, the wider site has the potential to support up to 1,700 jobs.
For Newcastle-under-Lyme, the arrival of a global automotive business could be an important sign that the borough is beginning to attract the sort of investment and skilled employment that has long been promised for the area. The development's location alongside the A500, with links to the M6 and A50, is being promoted as one of its major advantages.
For now, though, there is still one intriguing question hanging over the project , just who is the mystery company preparing to make Chatterley Park its new home?
